Product details
Our heritage comes together in luxuriously hand-spun, hand-woven wool with contrasting hand-stitched details – a harmony between traditional elements and modern style. This kimono is named after the rosefinch bird, known for its red plumage. This garment is also naturally dyed red with sappan wood .The kimono is assembled with dosan , the traditional hand stitch that joins two pieces of woven fabric. In a female pattu garment, this is the hallmark of authenticity: it is woven on a rachch (a local loom) and not on the newer frame loom, which can handle wider fabrics. Working with a rachch requires more strength and precision; the dosan therefore symbolizes the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into each piece.
This kimono uses the most decorative form of the traditional stitch to create a modern garment – an ode to the community we work with and a way to keep this heritage alive in a contemporary context.
The coat is kimono-inspired, with a woven belt and trimmed with naturally dyed malkha cotton. Wear it open or closed – warm and stylish either way.
Because each garment is handmade and naturally dyed, there may be slight variations in color and pattern. This makes each item unique, just like you.
